About SeaWorld Orlando

SeaWorld Orlando opened on 15 December 1973, little more than two years after Walt Disney World, and was one of the first big parks to follow Disney to Orlando.

Following Disney

SeaWorld opened in Orlando on 15 December 1973, according to Orange County’s official history. Coming so soon after Walt Disney World, it showed that the area could support more than one major park, and others followed.

Animals and coasters

The park combines marine-animal habitats and shows with some of Orlando’s bigger roller coasters, among them Manta, whose blue track loops above the park.

SeaWorld opened in Orlando on 15 December 1973 (Orange County Government).

Planning your day

Check the show schedule on SeaWorld’s website when you arrive and build the day around it, fitting rides in between.

Our advice: go on a weekday out of the school holidays, when the park is at its calmest.
