Sarasota is the Gulf coast’s arts town, with the Ringling estate and museums, a lively downtown and some of Florida’s finest beaches on Siesta Key, Lido Key and Longboat Key.
Arts
The Ringling, with its art museum, circus museum and Cà d’Zan, is the big sight; Sarasota Art Museum shows contemporary art.
The beaches
Siesta Beach is known for its fine white sand; Lido Beach is a short drive over the causeway from downtown.
Sarasota’s beaches are on the barrier islands across the bay from downtown.
Where to stay
Choose downtown for restaurants and walking, or Lido Key and Longboat Key to wake up by the beach.
Our advice: watch the sunset from the beach. It sets over the Gulf.
